What Is an Emirates ID?
The Emirates ID (Huwiyyah) is the official national identity card issued by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) to all UAE residents and citizens. It is a mandatory document for every person legally residing in the UAE.
Without a valid Emirates ID, UAE residents cannot access government services, open bank accounts, visit hospitals, register SIM cards, or conduct many other essential daily activities. It serves as the primary proof of legal residency in the country.
